A message from our president

Happy New Year and welcome to 2024!!

To all of you who voted during the election process, thank you for your involvement in the election process and for showing your support.

Since taking on a role on the ACMP Florida volunteer leadership team, I reached out to many of you on ACMP Connect as well as on LinkedIn and even via direct e-mail messages. I am very excited about what ACMP Florida Chapter has planned for 2024.

To get us started in 2024, we have a Virtual Trivia Night on January 23rd and a Business Transformation Virtual Exchange on January 24th. We also have a Power Networking in-person social event scheduled down in Fort Lauderdale on February 1st.

Click here to check out the Events Calendar and to register.

Through my initial engagements with many of you across the state, I have been fortunate enough to have an initial set of people interested in supporting and leading as a volunteer the many Events and Activities that are going to make a difference in 2024.

If you have an interest in helping and haven't been engaged with me already, please send me an email at William.Wagner@acmpflorida.org to get that started. We have our Strategic Planning Session scheduled on Saturday, January 13th. That isn't the only opportunity to get involved. However, it will establish the initial plans that we all will be committing to focus on.

Have a wonderful start to the new year.

Wagz

Change Management Trends for 2024

The advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digitization have are having a sweeping impact on businesses and change management. With this fact in mind, it is no surprise that technology and digital transformation ranks as being a high disruptive change factor that is foremost on practitioners' minds today.

Key Predictions from Prosci's most recent "Best Practices in Change Management" study show that there are five key factors that are in the front and center, with technology and digital transformation having the highest perceived impact.

Technology and digital transformation (37%)

Regulatory changes and compliance (9%)

Environmental sustainability and climate change (9%)

Talent retention and turnover (9%)

Cultural and organizational change (9%)

We are also in the midst of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) that is having sweeping global impacts in the manufacturing sector. In addition to the technology changes, it is imperative for companies to properly equip workers through upskilling and reskilling.

As transformational change managers, we are called to further sharpen our skills in multiple roles including director, interpreter, navigator, coach, caretaker and nurturer. What areas are you focusing on in 2024?

As a change practitioner, what is on your mind? Do you have insights as to key trends or other topics you would like the chapter to discuss at the First Thursday or Virtual Coffee Hours? If so, drop us a line at info@acmpflorida.org or post a reply to this post.

The Digitization of OCM

Contributed by Mark Deans and Change 4 Growth

As a change practitioner, my career has centered around helping companies make improvements to the systems and tools they use to perform work. Organizations continue to take advantage of rapidly evolving technology capabilities to streamline, automate and simplify the management of data used to run their business. Most recently this has labeled as “Digital Transformation.”

Perhaps one of the most frustrating aspects of these initiatives was watching the rapid evolution of technology used in our client organizations while the most evolved tools I had at my fingertips were a collection of disconnected Word and Excel templates that required a significant amount of effort to maintain. The manual effort required to keep information up to date forced a disproportionate amount of time to be allocated to managing the data instead of using the insights the data provided to intervene and ensure adoption.

Luckily, this frustration is diminishing, thanks to the availability of several platforms that finally modernize the execution of change management. Commercially available tools and internally developed platforms harness the power of modern digital transformation to more easily gather, manage, analyze and report upon data that is crucial to change management. Change practitioners are not the only ones that benefit from modernizing change management; project leaders are provided vastly improved perspectives into the effectiveness of change efforts, project managers benefit through improved visibility to the execution of the change effort, and the consistency in delivery ultimately benefits the impacted stakeholders in the organization.

Perhaps the easiest way to accomplish digitizing change management is taking advantage of the power behind the Microsoft Office 365 platform. At Change 4 Growth, we took significant actions to modernize our tools and templates by connecting the data within Office, building an end-to-end platform that mirrors our change management methodology, and built custom applications, reporting capabilities and automation using Power BI, Power Automate and Power Apps. The up-front work to elevate and digitize our toolset has resulted in a significant improvement in our ability to consistently deliver our work for our clients. As a leader, I can quickly understand the status of a project, timeliness of deliverables, and effectiveness of our efforts. We now have improved visibility across all projects, which allows for trend analysis across our entire portfolio of projects, and thus allows us to deliver improved services. This kind of visibility will prove invaluable to our clients as they gain the same type of insight into their efforts.

While we chose to build our own platform, there are plenty of change management platforms commercially available. Much like most tools available in the market (iPhone versus Android, for example), each has their pros and cons. Here are some notable options for change practitioners to consider:

ATLAS™ by C4G

Jtask Pulse

The Change Compass

upBOARD

Regardless of the tool you choose, there is great benefit that can be found by taking advantage of a digital platform.

Mark Deans is the Vice President of Professional Services at Change 4 Growth. As VP, Mark oversees the delivery of C4G’s client engagements, including Organizational Change Management, Learning/eLearning, Leadership Development, Culture and Employee Engagement, and Project Delivery. Mark is also the Product Owner of C4G’s digital OCM platform, ATLAS™ by C4G.
