Suppose you take away all the bureaucracy associated with being a project manager, as the agile camp seems to want to do - what then? Do you have a job anymore? What is the role of project manager on a modern, even rabidly agile project?
Come listen, and ask questions, as Dr. Alistair Cockburn, one of the authors of the Agile Manifesto, unpacks this topic.
===================================================
Dr. Cockburn is a world expert on agile methodologies and use cases, internationally recognized for his expertise in project management and object-oriented design. He is one of the original 17 signatories and authors to the Manifesto for Agile Software Development and was identified in 2020 as one of the 42 Greatest Software Professionals of All Times.
In 1993, Dr. Cockburn wrote for the IBM Consulting Group an early version of we now call agile methodology. He has published numerous books including Crystal Clear (A Human-Powered Methodology for Small Teams), Agile Software Development (The Cooperative Game) which includes the Cockburn Scale, Unifying User Stories, Use Cases, Story Maps (The power of verbs), Hexagonal Architecture Explained (How the Ports & Adapters architecture simplifies your life, and how to implement it), and many others.
In 2015, Dr. Cockburn synthesized his advice to just four words: Collaborate, Deliver, Reflect, Improve - what he calls the Heart of Agile.
